I've been talking about getting this video on line. Here it is! This is my Trex 600 mounted on my home made camera mount landing skid. I can use this mount on both my Trex 700 F3C and my 600. Both machines have the same landing skid width. The 700 skids are a little longer but that doesn't matter with this camera mount. If you notice the camera mount is attached loosely to the heli skids with good hook and loop (Velcro). I try to keep them loose to minimize vibration in the camera. I am still working on minimizing the shake for video. Actually the Go Pro Hero does a better job of video because it is lighter and does no shake from the weight of the camera. However the Canon T3i takes far far superior stills than the Go Pro and so that was the motivation for building this mount for the T3i. I actually use the same camera mount landing skid for both cameras. But I use a different camera holding bracket. Both brackets are attached with bungee cords loosely attached to minimize camera shake and vibration. I am flying this setup with no stabilizing electronics for either the heli or the camera except for he normal Futaba 401 Heading Hold Gyro in the standard setup of the heli.I used the Canon T3i because it is the lightest DSLR body that would be campatible with my other camera equipment. And the kit lens, the 18-55 is the lightest lens that Canon makes and it does a superb job. There is a section in this video that was taken from the heli as it was being photographed but the camera was not focused well so that section is not a good example of what this camera set up is capable of. But enjoy the set up whether or not you try your own version of it or not. I am in the process of looking for a way to allow the camera to stay parallel to the ground. If I come up with something I will post that when it is available.
